The small institution that later developed into Liverpool John Moores University was founded in 1823 by people of power and influence in Liverpool. They recognised that education can change the lives of individuals as well as communities and wider society. Today LJMU is home to a community of 25,000 students from more than 100 countries and 2,500 staff.
